Middle School ELA and Math Program - Edgenuity

Dear Parents and Guardians of FDR and Armstrong Middle School

Starting on Monday, May 4, 2020, we will begin the implementation of a program called Edgenuity.  This is aimed at streamlining instruction and programming for all middle school students in the area of English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Instructional Coach of FDR Middle School, Mrs. Bernadette Barone has created a site BTSD & Edgenuity which will assist both students and parents with the transition to this online format.

Please understand that teachers will still be posting assignments on their Google classroom and communicating their expectations for their students through email and Google meets.  This is based on the schedule that was provided and available under the distance learning tab on our district webpage which can be found here (BTSD Distance Learning).

Instead of students completing their schoolwork through different sites, they will instead complete their assigned course work through Edgenuity.

In order for students to be ready for learning on Monday morning, it is important that they log in for the first time and change their password.  Please use the information listed below to log in so students are prepared for learning on Monday morning.

Site to Visit (Click on this link) = Edgenuity

Student Username (Student Email address) = ex.  [email protected]

Student Password (First time / please reset once logged in) = btsd123

If you experience any technical difficulties or issues while attempting to sign in, please contact your principal, Mr. Kevin P. Boles, or Mr. Ed Dayton who will assist in addressing these concerns.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we continue to navigate these uncharted waters.  We are so proud of our students, teachers, and parents for all of their hard work in the face of such adversity.  Please know that we will continue to work hard to provide our students with lessons and activities that both challenge and support them during this fourth marking period.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kevin P. Boles Mr. Ed Dayton

Monday, April 7, 2020

Dear Middle School Parents,

First and foremost, we hope this letter finds all of our families healthy and well in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.  As you are all aware, school closures were recently extended until further notice by the governor as we were asked to practice social distancing and stay home to prevent the spread of this virus.

Over the last three weeks, we have been hard at work planning and preparing for distance learning so we can support our students through this difficult time.  Luckily, both Neil Armstrong and Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle Schools have been implementing a one to one device program for the last 5 years and are aware of the many tools available to us to implement such a plan.

Listed below, you will find a schedule for instruction and assignments that allows for a great deal of flexibility for you and your family.  We have instructed our teachers to start small over the first few weeks and let this plan evolve through personal reflection and communication with our families.

Students will receive assignments in their Google Classrooms by 8 a.m. daily according to the schedule below.  Students can start to complete these assignments as soon as they receive them. They can email their teachers’ questions at any time during the day and also based on the schedule below.  To start, teachers will hold a maximum of one (1) Google Hangout/Meets with their students per week. This link will be sent to them through their Google classroom/calendar invite. Here, teachers will touch base and remotely answer any questions they may have. Students receiving special education services may meet with their teacher more frequently to address individual needs.

Sincerely,

Mr. Ed Dayton Mr. Kevin Boles Principal,
