To help fight food insecurity among students, Harry S. Truman High School is honored to start a relationship with Wegmans Yardley, which will celebrate its grand opening on March 20.

Wegmans Yardley will be stocking the Truman Food Pantry to help fill the gaps and fulfil the pantry’s needs. Service Manager Dave Hemmer and some associates visited Truman for their first visit on March 6.

“As a family company focused on food, we’re committed to helping families and communities struggling with hunger,” said Hemmer. “Through our partnership with the Truman Food Pantry we can work together to nourish our communities and help make our neighborhoods stronger.”

Open to all Truman students, the pantry contains non-perishable food items such as canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats and tuna, soup and pasta, snacks, cereal and more.

“The pantry is vital to Truman because students can get what they need discreetly,” said Natalie Wood, English and special education teacher, who runs the food pantry.

Students who would like to access the pantry should contact Ms. Wood or their guidance counselor.
